GMC has unveiled the HUMMER EV ICON | 25, a limited-run electric model created to mark 25 years of the HUMMER nameplate. Announced on July 15, 2026, the special edition combines a heritage-focused design with updates planned for the wider 2027 GMC HUMMER EV range.
The announcement is significant because GMC is using the anniversary model to reinforce HUMMER’s current identity as an all-electric vehicle. The company says the 2027 HUMMER EV will continue in both Pickup and SUV forms, with production scheduled to begin later this year at GM’s Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. The vehicles will be sold in the United States and Canada.
A heritage edition with a limited production run
The HUMMER EV ICON | 25 will be offered on 2X and 3X trims of both the Pickup and SUV. Its exterior color, named ICON, draws inspiration from the recognizable yellow associated with the HUMMER H2. GMC pairs that finish with a Jet Black interior and a black front approach shield.
Each vehicle will have serialized badging on the instrument panel, unique infotainment graphics in the drive-mode section and an exclusive keepsake celebrating the HUMMER anniversary. GMC has not announced how many examples will be produced, so the scale of the limited run remains unknown.
The vehicle made its public debut at the 2026 ESPYS in New York City on July 15. That appearance coincided with GMC’s return as Official Vehicle Sponsor of the event. The special edition is therefore positioned as a visibility and design exercise as much as a technical update.
What changes for the 2027 HUMMER EV
GMC says every 2027 HUMMER EV Pickup and SUV will include a native North American Charging Standard, or NACS, inlet. That gives the new model year a common charging interface used across the North American electric-vehicle market, although the announcement does not provide a new charging-speed or range figure.
The vehicles will continue to offer available vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging. When paired with the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and GM Energy V2H Enablement Kit, a V2H-capable HUMMER EV can help supply power to a properly equipped home during an outage. GM’s own conditions are important here: the system requires an adequately charged vehicle, a properly equipped home and suitable grid interconnection. Weather, battery condition, vehicle variation and usage can affect the capability and duration of power supply. GM also says the system is not recommended for medical devices.
The 2027 model year will add five available exterior colors: ICON, Dark Ridge, Azurite Blue, Dark Ember and Deep Void Matte. GMC also lists two new 22-inch wheel designs. Existing capability features include 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk and King Crab modes, Air Ride Adaptive suspension and Extract Mode, which can raise the vehicle by approximately six inches to help clear off-road obstacles at low speeds.
Available technology includes Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance, the Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels and up to 18 camera views on the Pickup. These features remain equipment claims rather than independent test results, and GM’s announcement reminds drivers that assistance systems do not replace attention or responsibility behind the wheel.
Performance figures remain manufacturer estimates
For the 2027 GMC HUMMER EV 3X Pickup, GMC cites up to 1,160 horsepower, 13,000 lb.-ft. of torque and 0–60 mph acceleration in as little as 2.8 seconds when equipped with the optional 24-module battery. The company identifies these as GM estimates. The acceleration figure is based on initial vehicle movement and is intended for use on a closed course, not public roads.
Those numbers describe the most powerful configuration highlighted in the release, not the entire 2027 lineup. GMC has not published a complete equipment matrix, battery-capacity breakdown or range comparison between the Pickup and SUV in this announcement.
Price and availability are still open questions
GMC says the 2027 HUMMER EV and the ICON | 25 will become available later this year, but it has not provided an exact on-sale date. MSRP and additional information will be announced closer to production. That leaves pricing, final configuration details and market-specific ordering information to a later communication.
For now, the announcement establishes three clear points: HUMMER’s anniversary edition will remain fully electric, the 2027 range will gain standard NACS hardware and the next production phase is planned for GM’s Factory ZERO facility. The rest of the ownership picture, including price and final charging specifications, has yet to be confirmed.
